The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was unchanged Sunday at $2.927, after dropping two-tenths of a cent Saturday.
The average price is three-tenths of a cent more than one week ago, but 11.3 cents less than one month ago and 2.5 cents lower than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The Orange County average price also was unchanged Sunday at $2.892, one day after dropping one-tenth of a cent. It is one-tenth of a cent more than one week ago, but 12.9 cents less than one month ago and 4.9 cents lower than one year ago.
“Two Southern California refineries reported unplanned flaring last week, which can reduce fuel production,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California‘s corporate communications manager.
“Oil prices have also risen in the last two weeks, so at the moment there is less room for pump prices to decline further, although average prices are still slightly lower than at this time last year.”
