A man was arrested Friday for allegedly making a bomb threat that prompted the evacuation of Terminal 2 at Los Angeles International Airport, authorities said.

The incident began about 2:15 p.m., according to an Airport Police spokeswoman.

“He made a verbal bomb threat statement,” Officer Alicia Hernandez said.

Airport police evacuated the lower level of the terminal, and lower level traffic entering the central terminal area was rerouted to the departures, or upper level.

A Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad was called in and determined there was no danger. The all-clear was given about 3:15 p.m.

The arrested man, whose name was not immediately released, will be booked on suspicion of making a false bomb threat, Hernandez said.
