A 47-year-old Cypress man pleaded guilty Thursday to multiple sex charges in connection with victimizing at least 17 girls as he posed as a young surfer boy on social networking sites, some of whom he met in person and molested, according to prosecutors.
Michael Theodore Mordaunt created multiple MySpace and Facebook profiles, using an image of a young teenage boy on a surfboard, to contact underage girls from Feb. 25, 2009, through Jan. 15, 2014, Deputy District Attorney Bobby Taghavi said.
Mordaunt sought and received sexually explicit photos from multiple girls and carried on sexually charged conversations with some of the girls, Taghavi said.
Mordaunt was charged in July 2014 with multiple sex crimes involving girls 12 to 16 years old, according to Taghavi.
Mordaunt pleaded guilty to 30 felony counts for charges including luring of a child with intent to commit a specified crime, lewd or lascivious acts with a minor, child pornography and meeting a minor to commit lewd conduct, according to court records.
Mordaunt, who was working in information technology for Boeing in Seal Beach, was scheduled to be sentenced March 20.
