Authorities Wednesday identified a man who was stabbed to death at a Metro Purple Line station in Koreatown during an argument with another man.
The stabbing took place about 4:45 p.m. Sunday at the Wilshire/Normandie Station, said Deputy Kimberly Alexander of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Andres Ramos, 39, died at the scene, the coroner’s office reported.
“Detectives have learned that the victim had just exited a train on the Purple Line of the Metro Rail,” Alexander said. The suspect was on the platform and “began to argue with the victim. Sometime during the argument the suspect stabbed the victim several times in the upper body with a knife.”
The suspect, a 62-year-old man, fled the train station and attempted to hide in the bathroom of a nearby Carl’s Jr. restaurant, but he was arrested, Alexander said.
The suspect was booked on suspicion of murder at the sheriff’s Inmate Reception Center and was being held in lieu of $2 million bail, she said. His name was not immediately released.
