One person was killed Thursday in a crash on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Norwalk.
The fatality was reported at 4:23 p.m. on the Firestone Boulevard off-ramp from the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, according to Officer Michele Bond of the California Highway Patrol, who declined to release any details about what happened.
According to a report from the scene that showed what appeared to be a smashed pickup truck or SUV, the vehicle came off the southbound side of the freeway, went through some shrubbery on an embankment and came to rest at the end of the off-ramp where it meets Firestone Boulevard.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the coroner’s office was summoned to collect the victim’s body.
The off-ramp was closed and a SigAlert was issued, according to the CHP.
