A possibly suicidal man armed with a gun barricaded himself in a building in downtown Los Angeles Monday, but was ultimately taken into custody.
Officers responded about 1:30 p.m. to a report of a man with a gun in an apartment unit in the 600 block of East Second Street, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department‘s Media Relations Section.
The man refused to come out so evacuations were ordered and a SWAT team was summoned, Lopez said.
The man surrendered about 5:30 p.m. Police told reporters at the scene the man was possibly suicidal.
