A Los Angeles police SWAT team have surrounded a house in Pacific Palisades, where an armed man was believed barricaded Thursday after a shootout with police.
Officers went to the 2100 block of Alta Mura Road about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in response to a report of a domestic dispute, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
The alleged victim got out safely, and at some point some shots were fired by the suspect, and officers returned fire, police said.
No officers were injured, police said. It was unclear if the suspect was wounded. Thursday morning, dozens of tear gas canisters were fired into the 9,000- square-foot residence by police as authorities worked to take the suspect into custody.
The standoff was continuing nearly 10 hours after it began. Some evacuations were ordered in the area.
