A teenager was taken into custody for questioning Monday in connection with a threat against Grant High School that resulted in the lockdown of the campus for several hours, police said.
Officers went to the campus in the 13000 block of Oxnard Street about 7:20 a.m. after the threat, apparently communicated via the Internet, was received, said Los Angeles police Officer Norma Eisenman.
Information was not immediately available on the gender of the 16-year- old or whether the teen is a student at Grant High. There were no immediate word of any other details, including what tpe of threat may have allegedly been made.
The school was placed on lockdown until late Monday morning while authorities determined whether there was a danger, according to the LAPD. The incident was being investigated as an apparent hoax, said LAPD Officer Drake Madison.
