The city of Los Angeles will help pay part of the costs incurred by local hotels attempting to become certified as environmentally friendly establishments.
The Bureau of Sanitation will pay for half of a hotel’s application fee and 25 percent of the initial year’s monitoring fee for the “Green Seal” certification.
The incentive program is aimed at getting more hotels to make operations more sustainable. The Green Seal is given to hotels that have met standards set by the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit group of the same name.
More information about the certification program is at http://www.greenseal.org.
The city’s website for businesses looking to go green is at http://environmentla.org.
