It’s Richard Nixon’s 104th birthday and his supporters want to celebrate, but will the “W” word — Watergate — be mentioned?
Actor and Emmy-winning game show host Ben Stein was scheduled to speak Monday at a commemoration of the 104th anniversary of the birth of Nixon.
Stein will deliver the Nixon Legacy Lecture at 1 p.m. at the Richard M. Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda titled “Nixon: The Ultimate Peacemaker, The Man Who Created The Lasting Structure in Which The Whole World Still Lives.”
“(Nixon) was the most vilified president and yet accomplish the most of any 20th century president, maybe of any president,” said Stein, who was a speechwriter for Nixon in the final year of his presidency.
The commemoration will begin at 11 a.m. with the laying of memorial wreath at Nixon’s memorial site sent by President Barack Obama, remarks by Navy Capt. Noel J. Dahlke, commanding officer at Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach and presentation of colors.
Nixon served in the Navy during World War II.
Admission will be free at the library Monday. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
More information on the Nixon library is available online at nixonlibrary.gov or by calling (714) 993-5075.
