Sen. Kid Rock? The Michigan-born rapper — named Robert James Ritchie — got a big bump Friday when a super PAC backed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell gave a green light to a race.“We’d be actually very interested in his candidacy,” Steven Law, the group’s president, told C-SPAN. “I certainly wouldn’t count him out.”
Kid Rock would run in 2018 against Sen. Debbie Stabenow, the Democrat from Michigan.
“In a poll conducted July 25-27 by RealClearPolitics, Kid Rock … trailed Stabenow by 8 points, and Law said it is ‘not a bad place to start,’” said Politico. “Although Kid Rock has not officially declared his candidacy, social media blew up when the musician linked kidrockforsenate.com from his official Twitter account and tweeted campaign-related images: political stances, lawn signs and even apparel.”
On his website, the Trump-backing libertarian said: “One thing is for sure though. The democrats are ‘shattin’ in their pantaloons’ right now — and rightfully so!
“We will be scheduling a press conference in the next 6 weeks or so to address this issue amongst others, and if I decide to throw my hat in the ring for US Senate, believe me.”
