A bear that paid an early-morning visit to a Pomona train station ended up being tranquilized and relocated back to the wild, authorities said.
Police reported that the bear was first spotted about 4:30 a.m. Thursday at the Pomona North train station in the 200 block of Santa Fe Street.
Game wardens with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife were summoned.
They arrived about an hour later “and safely tranquilized a 450 pound, healthy male California black bear,” according to DFW’s Andrew Hughan.
“They returned it to suitable habitat,” he said, adding that it was a “textbook operation.”
