LA 2024, Los Angeles’ Olympic bid committee, released new renderings of how arenas and locations could be altered if the city lands the Games.
The renderings imagine what some of the individual venues like The Forum or the Rose Bowl would look like after receiving an Olympics-style makeover, as well as the possible Olympic Village at UCLA and Media Village at USC.
The images released Monday also show what some temporary venues would look like, including a beach volleyball venue to be set up near the Santa Monica Pier or Riverside County’s Lake Perris State Recreation Area outfitted for rowing, canoeing and kayaking events.
“I am excited to share renderings of LA 2024’s world-class, stand-alone competition venues and Villages at USC and UCLA,” said LA 2024 Chairman Casey Wasserman.
“The LA 2024 Games plan places sports where they fit best in Southern California, engaging communities across the region, not just in our four sports parks,” he said. “Our goal is to immerse all Games attendees in the rich culture, iconic sites and breathtaking natural beauty of L.A. as we invite the world to follow the sun.”
Los Angeles is competing with Paris to host the 2024 Games. An evaluation team from the International Olympic Committee is visiting L.A. this week, and the IOC will be choosing the host city in September.
