A man sought by police barricaded himself Friday in a Garden Grove garage where he lives, beginning a standoff that has lasted for hours.
Santa Ana police went about 8 a.m. to the 11200 block of Trask Avenue to arrest the suspect wanted for identity theft and burglary, according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
The unidentified suspect — who was living in a garage with his father — refused to come out to speak to officers and demanded they get a search warrant, Bertagna said.
Police were informed a short time later that there were weapons in the garage, so the officers backed off and went to get a search warrant, Bertagna said.
A woman was in the residence, but after some negotiations she emerged unharmed about 3:10 p.m., Bertagna said.
The suspect has continued to refuse to come out of the garage, Bertagna said at about 4 p.m.
