The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Sunday for the 19th consecutive day, falling a half-cent to $3.985 — its lowest amount since April 11.

The average price has decreased 13.5 cents over the past 19 days, including 1.3 cents Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

It is 4.6 cents less than one week ago and 10.3 cents lower than one month ago, but 22.1 cents higher than one year ago.

The Orange County average price also dropped for the 19th consecutive day, decreasing 1.1 cents to $3.952, its lowest amount since April 11. It has dropped 11.5 cents over the past 19 days, including eight-tenths of a cent Saturday.

The Orange County average price is 5.1 cents less than one week ago and 11.1 cents lower than one month ago, but 21.5 cents higher than one year ago.

“Los Angeles wholesale gasoline prices have plunged by more than 60 cents a gallon from their highest point of the year reached last month, but Southern California average gas prices have only dropped by about 12 cents a gallon,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.

“Consumers should consistently shop around for the lowest gasoline prices so stations will drop their prices faster.”
