A motorist led California Highway Patrol officers on a chase Tuesday from Ventura County to the Woodland Hills area before surrendering to authorities in the parking lot of a business.
The pursuit began about 12:35 p.m. on the eastbound Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway near Yosemite Avenue in Simi Valley, where officers saw the car speeding and tried to pull it over, according to the CHP.
The motorist kept going on the eastbound 118 Freeway and somewhere in the vicinity of the Foothill (210) Freeway, turned around and headed westbound on the 118 Freeway, weaving around slower-moving vehicles while being followed by CHP vehicles.
About 1:05 p.m., the motorist got off of the 118 Freeway at De Soto Avenue and stopped the car on the offramp, where there was a brief standoff with CHP officers before the driver sped off again.
The motorist, who was not immediately identified, headed south on De Soto Avenue through Canoga Park and then west on Vanowen Street into Woodland Hills. About 1:20 p.m., the driver pulled into the parking lot of a tire store and surrendered to officers.
