Hollywood Burbank Airport is receiving a $900,000 grant through the Federal Aviation Administration to purchase an aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicle, officials said Tuesday.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao announced the grant, part of more than $273 million in airport safety and infrastructure grants to 41 states and the District of Columbia, American Samoa, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, Palau, and Puerto Rico.

“This $273 million federal investment in our nation’s airports will strengthen safety, improve travel, generate jobs, and benefit local communities,” Chao said.

The grant will be used to replace a vehicle from 2003 “that is nearing the end of its useful life,” Lucy M. Burghdorf, director of communication for the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority, told City News Service.

The airport is located at 2627 N Hollywood Way in Burbank.
