A motorist driving eastbound the westbound side of the Foothill (210) Freeway in Lake View Terrace Sunday evening caused a fiery head-on crash with another vehicle, leaving four people seriously injured, including two in critical condition.

The crash was reported at 9:24 p.m. on the westbound 210 just west of Osborne Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

One of the vehicles became fully engulfed in flames, witnesses told the CHP.

Two of the patients were taken by paramedics to a hospital in critical condition and two were “in at least serious condition,” according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Margaret Stewart.

Witnesses told the CHP the crash involved two sedans but the vehicles appeared to have been SUVs in FOX11 video from a helicopter.

The CHP issued a SigAlert shutting down lanes 1 through 4 of the westbound Foothill Freeway just west of Osborne Street. The roadway was reopened about 10:45 p.m.
