The number of COVID-19-positive patients in Riverside County hospitals dropped to 911 in the latest data, compared to 952 reported by the state on Sunday.
Of those patients reported by the Riverside University Health System Monday, 163 were in intensive care, three less than reported by the state a day earlier.
Not all COVID-positive patients were admitted due to the virus. Officials have said some patients entered hospitals for other reasons and only discovered they had COVID after a hospital-mandated test.
The RUHS does not report COVID data on weekends.
The RUHS on Monday reported 33 additional COVID-related deaths, bringing the county’s cumulative pandemic total to 5,868.
Fatalities are considered trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates, meaning some deaths may have actually occurred weeks ago, according to health officials.
The aggregate number of COVID cases recorded in the county since the pandemic began in March 2020 is 451,267.
The number of known active virus cases in the county was 49,764 Monday. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 451,267. Verified patient recoveries countywide are 401,503.
