The number of COVID-positive patients in Riverside County hospitals dropped from 565 to 523, according to the latest state data out Saturday.
Of those patients, 101 were in intensive care, down from 110 on Friday.
The Riverside University Health System reported 25 additional deaths associated with COVID-19 and 2,065 new positive COVID tests Thursday, bringing the county’s totals to 579,107 cases and 6,030 deaths since the pandemic began.
The RUHS did not report data on Friday, and does not report COVID numbers on weekends.
Fatalities are considered trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates, meaning some deaths may have actually occurred weeks ago, according to health officials.
The number of known active virus cases in the county was 121,854 as of Thursday. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total. Verified patient recoveries countywide are 451,223.
