A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and killed early Monday morning on the Pomona (60) Freeway in South El Monte.
The crash was reported at 2:45 a.m. on the eastbound 60 Freeway near Santa Anita Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Information was not immediately available on the identity of the fatally injured man, who died at the scene.
The motorist, 50-year-old Yolanda Vick of Hemet, suffered a minor injury and was treated at a hospital, the CHP reported. She was not arrested.
According to the CHP, Vick was driving a 2016 Toyota RAV4 east in the No. 1 lane when the crash occurred.
“Due to the pedestrian wearing dark clothing and it being during the hours of darkness, Miss Vick did not see the pedestrian and crashed into him,” the CHP said in a statement.
A SigAlert was issued shutting down lanes 1, 2 and 3 at 3 a.m. and it was canceled at 4:45 a.m., the CHP reported.
Anyone who witnessed the collision was asked to contact Officer Singh or Officer Lizarraga at the East Los Angeles Area CHP office, 323-980-4600.
