A Pacoima woman who was behind the wheel of a vehicle that struck and killed a man crossing the street in his wheelchair pleaded no contest Wednesday to a felony hit-and-run charge.

Tatiana Cacho, 25, is facing two years in state prison for the collision that killed Manuel DeJesus Gonzalez, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The 40-year-old victim was struck Sept. 26 and dragged about 100 feet while crossing Terra Bella Street just east of Cayuga Avenue in the Pacoima area. Paramedics took Gonzalez to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Cacho was arrested Oct. 6 along with Christian Salvador Olvera, 23, of North Hollywood. Police said tips from the public were instrumental in locating the suspects.

Olvera pleaded no contest to one count of being an accessory after the fact and is facing 16 months in jail, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Both are set to be sentenced Dec. 12 at the San Fernando courthouse.
