A former Irwindale police officer who sexually assaulted a woman he pulled over in a traffic stop was sentenced Monday to nine years in prison.
David Paul Fraijo, 37, pleaded no contest Oct. 3 to one count each of oral copulation under color of authority and sexual battery by restraint.
Three other counts, including kidnapping, were dismissed in exchange for his plea. If convicted on all counts, Fraijo could have been sentenced to life in prison.
Fraijo stopped a woman on Oct. 20, 2012, near Arrow Highway and Azusa Canyon Road, and asked to see her driver’s license. He later sexually assaulted her in a parking lot, Deputy District Attorney Rosa Alarcon said.
The city of Irwindale paid $400,000 to settle a lawsuit brought by the victim, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported.
