A woman charged in a December 2013 crash that killed a pedestrian in Rosemead pleaded no contest Friday to a felony count of leaving the scene of an accident and a misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter.
Janet Ngo Bowman, 33, was ordered to perform 60 days of community service, serve three years on probation, pay $37,500 in restitution and to write a letter of apology to the victim’s son, according to Sarah Ardalani of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Qinrong Chai, 69, was killed on impact when she was struck around 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 29, 2013, at the intersection of Greendale and Marshall avenues.
Bowman surrendered to authorities the next day.
