A Canyon Country man who pleaded no contest to meeting a 15-year-old girl for lewd purposes was ordered Friday to undergo a 52-week sex offender program and to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Michael Anthony Byrne, 23, was also ordered to serve five years on formal probation and was given credit for time he had already spent behind bars, according to Jane Robison of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Byrne met the teen last August through an app that allows anonymous social media interactions, according to Deputy District Attorney Nathan Bartos.
Byrne initially pretended to be a girl who then introduced a “friend” who was also Byrne, according to the prosecutor.
Byrne was charged last November with meeting a minor for lewd purposes, along with four sex-related counts that were dismissed when he was sentenced.
