A confidential tip led to the seizure of about 850 pounds of illegal fireworks valued at more than $8,000 from an Azusa garage, authorities said Thursday.
The homeowner was under investigation for alleged possession and possible sale of the fireworks, Azusa Police detective Jerry Jarrett said Thursday.
The fireworks were discovered Wednesday inside a partially opened garage in the 200 block of East Azusa Lane, Jarrett said.
Investigators at the scene saw the fireworks through the open door, according to Jarrett.
The only legal fireworks allowed in Azusa are “Safe and Sane” fireworks and their discharge includes a $1,000 fine, Jarrett said.
Anyone with information on illegal fireworks in Azusa was asked to call (626) 812-3200, he said.
