A former Los Angeles County Superior Court clerk is set to be arraigned Aug. 20 in connection with charges that she misappropriated more than $6,000 in public funds, the District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.
Linda Mascorro of Covina, 59, is charged with 15 felony counts of misappropriation of public funds.
Mascorro is accused of stealing more than $6,000 between 2010 and 2014 while she worked as a clerk at a Pomona courthouse, according to Deputy District Attorney Michele Gilmer.
Mascorro allegedly took the money while processing and collecting fees from people filing civil name change petitions, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
She was arrested last week by investigators with the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation and is jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail.
If convicted as charged, Mascorro faces up to 18 years in state prison, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
