Family members of a Downey woman killed when her car collided with a waste/recycling company truck sued the firm and the truck’s driver.
Deisy Arairis Argueta, 22, was declared dead at the scene of the accident that happened about 6:30 a.m. Dec. 30 at Imperial Highway and Woodruff Avenue in Downey.
The Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit alleging wrongful death and negligence was filed Monday by the the woman’s mother, Rosalio Argueta, on behalf of herself and her daughter’s 4-year-old son, Aiden Antonio Rodriguez. The boy’s father, 23-year-old Patrick Antonio Rodriguez, also is a plaintiff.
The suit names as defendants Stanton-based CR&R Waste Recycling Services Inc. and truck driver Alejandro Padilla.
The suit seeks unspecified damages and compensation for funeral and burial costs.
A CR&R employee declined Tuesday to comment on the lawsuit.
The complaint states that Arguenta was driving east on Imperial Highway when Padilla, who was traveling west, collided with her car. She suffered massive head trauma and died the same day, according to the lawsuit.
