A father and his six-year-old daughter were killed and six other people were injured when a truck and car collided on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Van Nuys on Sunday, authorities said.

Paramedics and firefighters were dispatched at 12:47 p.m. to the scene of the crash on the 405 north at Sherman Way, Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Witnesses said a white SUV occupied by a family of five swerved into the path of a truck, the CHP said. The man killed in crash — identified as Efrain Sifuentes Hurtado, 37, of Van Nuys — was driving the SUV, the California Highway Patrol said.

His daughter, Luz Yanet Sifuentes, was pronounced dead at a hospital, Scott said.

The mother and two other children suffered unknown injuries, Scott said.

The truck in the collision was a white bobtail truck, authorities said.

Three people inside the truck also were injured and hospitalized, but all were in fair condition, Scott said.

All north lanes were open as of 5:40 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
