A music teacher who was wanted on an arrest warrant in his native United Kingdom was found dead Tuesday at his Sherman Oaks apartment of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, officials said.

Christopher Howard Ling, 58, was found dead when deputy U.S. marshals tried to serve the warrant about 6 a.m. at his apartment on Dixie Canyon Place, said Laura Vega of the U.S. Marshals Service.

The “provisional arrest warrant” was issued out of the U.K. for the arrest of Ling, who was a U.K. citizen, Vega said.

“Ling was wanted for multiple counts of indecent assault on a minor,” Vega said. “When deputies arrived at his residence … they discovered Ling dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

Ling had been a violin teacher in the United Kingdom, and was in the United States on a work visa, Vega said. He had started his own company in Sherman Oaks, Vega said.
