A Glendora woman was charged Thursday with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated for allegedly causing a crash that killed a bicyclist in West Covina.

Presley Danielle Rodriguez, 25, was ordered to be held in lieu of $150,000 while awaiting arraignment Dec. 8 on the felony charge, which includes an allegation that she fled from the scene of the crime.

Jose Ruiz-Villanueva, 44, of La Puente was struck shortly before midnight Monday in the 1100 block of South Valinda Avenue. He died at the scene.

An officer who was parked on Valinda north of Merced Avenue heard the collision, saw the vehicle going northbound and made a traffic stop at Cameron Avenue, according to West Covina police.

Rodriguez was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. If convicted, she could face up to 15 years in state prison, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
