Etienne Juarez Rosas, 24, of Winnetka, was expected to be arraigned Friday afternoon on a count each of kidnapping to commit rape and forcible rape and two counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Rosas is being held on $4 million bail and is due back in court Nov. 19 to get a date set for a preliminary hearing. If convicted as charged, he faces a sentence of up to 75 years to life in prison.

The crime occurred about 4 a.m. Oct. 25 in the 27500 block of Wayne Mills Place, sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Hudson said.

A 25-year-old woman was standing next to her vehicle, which was parked outside a popular restaurant, when Rosas spoke briefly with her and then approached her and suddenly forced her into her vehicle, Hudson said.

Rosas then allegedly assaulted her, “both physically and sexually,” according to Hudson. He said Rosas fled when the woman was able to hit the horn on her vehicle.

Detectives from the sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau conducted an investigation that led to Rosas, who was arrested in Santa Clarita, Hudson said.

Investigators believe Rosas may have committed other sexual assaults, and asked anyone with information to call the Special Victims Bureau at (877) 710-LASD. Tipsters also may call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
