With travelers hitting the roads Wednesday night in advance of Thanksgiving, those heading east on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in the Inland Empire faced major delays as traffic backed up into Pomona after a series of collisions Wednesday night.
The most unusual of the crashes had two collisions take place on opposite sides of the 10 freeway near the same offramp about the same time, but the two incidents appeared to be unrelated.
A three-vehicle crash was reported about 7:15 p.m. near Mountain Avenue on the Upland/Ontario border, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Traffic on the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway was backed up to Garey Avenue in Pomona, a witness said.
On the westbound side of the freeway at Mountain Avenue, a two-vehicle crash was reported just after 7 p.m., the CHP reported.
While emergency vehicles were on the scene on both sides of the freeway, with an ambulance on the eastbound side alongside an apparently damaged motorcycle, it was not immediately clear if anyone was seriously injured in either crash.
A two-vehicle crash was also reported about 6:40 p.m. near Wabash Avenue in Redlands.
