Detectives Thursday were working to identify a suspect who stabbed and critically injured a 36-year-old woman in Monrovia as she headed home from a grocery store with her 2-year-old daughter.
The attack occurred about 11 p.m. Wednesday as the woman returned to her apartment complex in the 200 block of South Madison Avenue, carrying her daughter and some groceries, according to Monrovia police.
The woman was hospitalized in critical condition, with injuries to her face, neck, arms and back, police said.
The child was uninjured.
No description was available of the suspect, who attacked the woman from behind, police said.
