Four people were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of burglarizing vehicles in Covina.
Officers went to the 100 block of East Edna Place about 1 a.m. on a report that some people in a vehicle were “tampering with parked cars in the area,” said Covina police Sgt. Gregg Peterson.
“Responding officers located a vehicle matching the description of the suspicious vehicle … and initiated a traffic stop,” Peterson said.

“The officers determined that the vehicle carried two adults and three juveniles,” Peterson said. “Inside the vehicle, officers located property that had been reported stolen from a vehicle burglary in the 700 block of North Edenfield (Avenue), as well as other property that was later determined to have been stolen from four other vehicles parked within the area.”
A man, a woman, and two of the juveniles were arrested on suspicion of burglary. The juveniles who were arrested were released into the custody of their parents.
Baltazar Vergara, 20, of Covina, and Ashley Chapa, 18, of La Puente, were held on $20,000 bail each, and were scheduled to appear in the Citrus courthouse on Thursday.
