A 48-year-old man is facing 11 years in state prison for killing his 74-year-old father during a fight at their home in Canyon Country, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Sean Matthias Miller pleaded no contest Monday to voluntary manslaughter for the June 15, 2015, death of his father, Jack Miller, who was found by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responding to calls of a family dispute.
The two had gotten into a physical fight, during which the defendant picked up a bat, hit his father and then kicked him, according to Deputy District Attorney Carmelia Mejia.
Miller was arrested early the next morning by sheriff’s deputies.
He is due back in a San Fernando courtroom for sentencing June 20.
