A 34-year-old woman was fatally wounded during a car-to- car shooting in Pomona Saturday, where police have arrested a 23-year-old motorist who they believe fired the fatal shots.
Paramedics rushed Arizona resident Deborah Gutierrez from the scene of the shooting in the area of Holt and San Antonio avenues to a hospital, where she later died from her gunshot wounds, said Pomona Police Sgt. Bert Sanchez.
Gutierrez was a passenger in a 2003 Chevrolet Impala that was driven by Chino Hills resident Demar Jacobs, 39, who was treated and released at the scene for a non-life threatening gunshot wound, Sanchez said.
Patrol officers heard several gunshots a little after 3:30 a.m. in the area of Holt and San Antonio avenues and soon after located and stopped two cars that were several blocks from each other, he said.
Pomona resident Robert Bogan, who was driving a 2000 Cadillac DTS, was taken into custody and was believed to be the only suspect involved in the shooting. A handgun believed to have been used in the shooting was also recovered, Sanchez said.
Bogan was booked into the Pomona jail for suspicion of the homicide and was being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
Pomona police asked anyone who saw or have information about the shooting to call them at (909) 620-2085.
