Deputies on Sunday were searching for a gunman who fatally shot a 24-year-old man on a bike path in Bell.

The shooting occurred about 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the 5400 block of Gage Avenue, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Rouzan.

The unidentified adult male suspect walked up to the victim at the exit of a bike path and opened fire, striking the victim once in the upper torso, Rouzan said.

The victim — whose name was withheld — died at the scene, he said. The victim’s name was not immediately available.

The suspect fled eastbound on Gage Avenue, Rouzan said. His description was not available.
