It’s not clear if alcohol may have been involved, if the driver may have fallen asleep or if there was a medical problem as a 30-year-old woman was killed Sunday when she allowed her car to drift across some traffic lanes of the Golden State (5) Freeway in Sun Valley and strike the center divider.
The crash on the northbound freeway at Penrose Street occurred a little after 3 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.
The motorist, a 30-year-old resident of Van Nuys, was taken to Pacifica Hospital of the Valley, where she later died from her injuries.
The motorist was the lone occupant inside a blue 2008 Honda Civic.
An investigation was still pending as to whether alcohol played a factor in the crash, the CHP reported.
The CHP’s Altadena office asked anyone who witnessed the crash to call them at (626) 296-8100.
