What else could go wrong at USC?
The Trojans were clobbered by top-ranked Alabama 52 to 6 in the season opener in Texas, and the Los Angeles team was forced to face the Crimson Tide without two players who were earlier suspended amid reports of alleged sex and drug attacks.
A possible rape and drugging probe that included naked video of the victim may be why the USC football team was without the two suspended players at Saturday’s game in Texas.
Reserve linebackers Don Hill and Osa Masina are being accused of raping a 19-year-old classmate at Hill’s off-campus apartment in July, according to a search warrant obtained by the Los Angeles Times.
Neither player has been arrested nor charged.
Hill, 20, was sent home from Dallas, where the Trojans faced reigning national champion Alabama at AT&T Stadium in neighboring Arlington, Texas, “for a violation of team rules,” USC announced.
Without identifying Masina, 19, the LAPD confirmed earlier this week that a USC football player had been questioned in connection with an unspecified crime.
USC is aware of the investigation and is “cooperating fully with authorities in Utah, the lead agency in the investigation,” according to a university statement released following Masina’s suspension.
The woman alleges in the warrant that Masina gave her two Xanax pills and it made her feel like she “wasn’t in control of what was happening,” according to the Times.
The woman said after taking the pills, drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana, she realized she was naked at Hill’s apartment and Masina and Hill were performing sex acts on her.
The victim also alleged Masina recorded the sexual acts and sent images and video to the her ex-boyfriend, according to media reports.
The boyfriend told police the woman did not appear to be alert in the video.
Masina, the victim and her former boyfriend all went to high school together in Utah, a TV station reported.
Officials with the Cottonwood Heights (Utah) Police Department have said Masina also is being investigated in connection with an alleged July 26 sexual assault in that state.
The Times reported the alleged victim in both cases was the same woman.
A July 29 report from the Cottonwood Heights Police Department attached to the LAPD search warrant revealed the woman accused Masina of raping her at a house party where she drank alcohol and consumed cookies laced with marijuana.
Hill played five games as a backup outside linebacker as a redshirt freshman in 2015, making seven tackles. He missed 2016 spring practice because of a team rules violation.
Masina was a backup inside linebacker as a first-year freshman in 2015, making 25 tackles in 12 games. He picked up an errant lateral and ran 46 yards for a touchdown in the season opener against Arkansas State.
