The gunfire was reported about 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of El Segundo Boulevard and Vermont Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
One person was taken to a hospital, according to a dispatch supervisor.
Firefighters were initially informed there were two patients at the scene at or near a liquor store, but the dispatch supervisor did not know the status of the second victim.
