A rookie South Gate Police Officer and his wife were found shot at their condominium in Long Beach, with their two young children unharmed, and authorities Tuesday were investigating their deaths as a possible murder-suicide.
There was no immediate word of what family conflict may have led to the tragic deaths, nor who had murdered the spouse before committing suicide.

Police were dispatched around 9:50 p.m. Monday to the 1000 block of Park Avenue on a possible domestic violence call, said Lt. David Faris of the Long Beach Police Department.
Arriving officers found the couple inside the residence, each with a single gunshot wound to the upper body, and a weapon was located. Their children — a toddler and an infant — were taken into protective custody.
Greta Kurian, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene, and her 25-year-old husband, Kyle Kurian, died at a hospital about 1 Tuesday morning, according to police and the county coroner’s office.
South Gate Police confirmed late Tuesday that Kyle Kurian was a recently hired officer.
