A 29-year-old man on probation for robbery was behind bars Thursday, accused of taking a 54-year-old woman’s purse at a Burbank McDonald’s restaurant and overpowering her when she tried to stop him, police said Thursday.
The robbery occurred about 12:15 p.m. on Jan. 16 at 2565 Hollywood Way, according to Burbank police Sgt. Claudio Losacco.

“The victim’s purse was sitting next to her at the time it was taken,” Losacco said. “The victim chased the suspect as he ran towards the exit and struggled with him in the doorway.
The suspect was able to overpower the victim and fled with her purse to a vehicle nearby. A witness obtained a partial license plate number and a description of the suspect and the getaway car.”
The suspect allegedly tried to use one of the victim’s credit cards at a nearby business soon after the robbery
“Investigators learned the suspect’s vehicle was a rental car recently leased to a Lance MacClellan, 29, of Los Angeles, who was on probation for robbery,” according to Losacco.
Investigators went to MacClellan’s home on Friday and located the rental car.
“They contacted MacClellan at his apartment, where they found the victim’s driver license, social security card and several of her credit cards,” Losacco said. “MacClellan was placed under arrest for robbery.”
McClellan told investigators he discarded the woman’s purse, which was not found, Losacco said.
McClellan was being held at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic in lieu of $75,000 bail and was next due in court in Burbank on Feb. 8, according to sheriff’s inmate records.
