A woman was being treated at a hospital Monday after being shot in the abdomen, and she may owe her survival to the gunman’s inability to shoot straight.
Authorities said the attacker fired six rounds at the victim as she stood with a man outside a motel in Hacienda Heights, but it appeared only one of the rounds hit her.
It happened just after 10 p.m. Sunday at the Vagabond Inn at 1239 South Hacienda Blvd., said Sgt. B. Smith of the LA Sheriff’s Industry Station.
The woman was with a man outside the motel when one of two suspects fired six rounds from a 40-caliber semi-automatic handgun, then fled in a sedan, Smith said. The woman was taken to a hospital with a wound not believed to be life-threatening, he said.
The motive for the attack was not known, Smith said.
