A man who coached basketball at a Chinatown recreation center pleaded no contest Wednesday to molesting a teenage boy who played for his team more than a decade ago.
Tony Wong, 62, is expected to be sentenced July 5 to two years in state prison in connection with his no contest plea to three counts of committing a lewd act on a child, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
He is also expected to be ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Wong — at the time a coach at the Alpine Recreation Center — invited the teenager to play for his team. The crimes occurred between January 2004 and August 2004, at the recreation center and in hotel rooms when the team traveled, prosecutors said.
Wong was arrested last July by Los Angeles police and released on a $240,000 bond.
