A 32-year-old man was in custody Saturday on suspicion of kidnapping as his girlfriend was forcibly held against her will for at least a week, authorities said.
Jack Albert Davis was arrested about 12:30 a.m. and booked into the Azusa jail, according to Azusa Police Sgt. Robert Landeros.
Police were called at 7 p.m. Friday to the 400 block of East Eighth Street by a 32-year-old Azusa woman who told police she fled her apartment after her boyfriend held her at least one week, Landeros said. “During the time she was held against her will by the suspect, he allegedly beat her repeatedly causing serious injuries to her face and body.”
The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment, he said.
Detectives identified the suspect as Jack Davis of Azusa and quickly located and arrested him, Landeros said.
“It was also discovered that Davis was on Post-Release Community Supervision.”
Davis was booked for suspicion of kidnapping, domestic violence, false imprisonment and assault with a deadly weapon, the sergeant said. He was being held without bail due to his post-release status.
A Tuesday court appearance was set in West Covina, according to the sheriff’s inmate information.
