A 21-year-old man was in custody Thursday for allegedly shooting a woman at a Pomona mobile home park.

The crime was reported at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday at Biggs Mobile Home Park, 1461 W. Mission Blvd., according to the Pomona Police Department.

Carlos Ramon Garcia was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, police said. The Pomona resident is being held on $2 million bail, and is expected to appear in court on Monday in Pomona, according to the sheriff’s department.

Garcia allegedly fired at the woman’s vehicle as she was driving away from her mobile home to go to a store, accompanied by her daughter.

“There did not appear to be an ongoing or previous altercation that led up to the shooting,” according to a police statement.

The woman, who suffered a knee wound, drove herself to a hospital for treatment, police said. Her daughter was not injured.

“During a search of the area, the suspect was located and arrested in a nearby residence,” police said. “The unregistered weapon used in this incident was located along with a body armor vest. Initial information appears to suggest that the suspect mistakenly believed the victims were going to do the suspect harm in some way.”
