A fire damaged a 40-foot boat near the entrance to Los Angeles Harbor Friday and left one person hospitalized in fair condition, authorities said.
Firefighters sent about 9:20 a.m. to an area near Terminal Island and San Pedro quickly doused the flames and worked to remove water from the vessel, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Two people jumped into the water from the burning boat, along with a dog, and all were brought to safety, Amy Bastman of the LAFD said.
One person was taken to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries, Bastman said. The other person and the dog were not injured.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
