Three people were hospitalized in critical condition Wednesday when their small red sedan was partly squashed crashing into the side of a giant tanker truck in Wilmington.

It wasn’t known if the tanker truck was filled with anything flammable, but no fire erupted after the crash.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the accident in the 1600 block of North Alameda Street at 3:44 a.m.

Southbound Alameda was closed to traffic for investigation of the accident. It is unknown if speed or alcohol were a factor in the early morning crash.
