Pasadena police were trying to figure out Sunday why an ailing 58-year-old woman allegedly murdered another middle-aged woman on the streets of their community.

Teretha Howard, 58, of Pasadena, was arrested and booked for suspicion of murder with bail set at $2 million, said Lt. John Luna. She was taken to a hospital due to a pre-existing medical condition.

The dead woman in Saturday’s shooting death was found by officers who were dispatched at about 1:45 a.m. on a report of a female gunshot victim in the 100 block of West Peoria Street, Pasadena Police Lt. John Luna said.

Paramedics rushed the woman to an area hospital, where she later died from her injuries, Luna said. Her name has not been released pending notification of relatives.

Pasadena police asked anyone with information regarding the shooting to call them at (626) 744-4241. They provided no other details about the people involved or any possible motive.
